Alpine Insurance

Platinum Commercial and General insurance is able to arrange, place and manage all your Alpine insurance, Alpine property insurance, Alpine liability insurance, Ski Lodge Insurance, Ski Club Insurance, Snow and Ski Field Insurance requirements Australia wide.

We have facilities with Alpine Insurers and access to Alpine insurance underwriters with a solid reputation for strong sector knowledge, and understanding of the needs of the ski industry.

Depending on the nature of the Alpine property risk to be insured, we can arrange, place and manage a Snowfield Property insurance policy or a Ski Lodge Industrial Special Risks (ISR) policy.

Generally, ISR insurance policies are used for larger commercial insurance risks. Both types of Alpine insurance policy can cover:

  • Alpine Buildings insurance
  • Alpine Contents insurance
  • Alpine Public Liability insurance
  • Alpine Products Liability insurance
  • Alpine Boiler Explosion insurance
  • Alpine Professional Fees insurance
  • Alpine Removal of Debris insurance
  • Alpine Business Interruption insurance

Alpine Business Interruption Insurance
Due to the winter conditions in the snowfields, building repairs can sometimes be delayed for months or even a whole ski season. A loss at the beginning of a season that makes a lodge uninhabitable may have to wait until summer before repairs can be made. During this time, the lodge could lose significant income. If insured, the income lost during this period could be recovered. Lodges should calculate a ‘worst case scenario’ and ensure that their ’sum insured’ is adequate to cover them if the worst happens. We can typically arrange and place cover for a 12 or 24 month ‘indemnity period’ as required.

Alpine Directors & Officers (D&O) & Office Bearers Liability Insurance
Over recent years, Directors and Officers of companies are being made more accountable for the actions of their companies and their employees. As a result, Ski lodge directors and office bearers should consider in insuring themselves with Directors & Officers Liability cover or Office Bearers Liability cover. The type of cover appropriate will depend on whether the lodge is a corporation, a company or an association.

These policies indemnify the insured in respect of compensation payable due to wrongful acts committed by a person or persons in their capacity as a director or office bearer. Where lodges employ staff, these policies can be also extended to cover Employment Practices Liability (EPL).

Skidoo Insurance
Some Lodges own Skidoos, Snowcats and other snow vehicles which are used for transporting guests, luggage and clearing roads etc. When used in public places, there is always a risk of property damage or bodily injury to third parties and it is important that these vehicles have adequate insurance. We can arrange, place and manage a full comprehensive policy or a third party property damage policy to cover this risk.

Alpine Fidelity Guarantee Insurance
Unfortunately it’s a fact of life that sometimes the people entrusted with the financial welfare of others do the wrong thing. Many lodges collect much of their income in cash and there is always a risk of money being stolen or misappropriated by trusted people. We can arrange, place and manage Fidelity Guarantee Insurance to protect lodges for the loss of funds caused by dishonest employees and members.

Alpine Machinery Breakdown & Spoilage of Refrigerated Goods Insurance
Some lodges have a significant value of refrigerated goods and supplies. If the fridge or freezer breaks down, these goods could spoil in a matter of hours causing a sizable loss for the lodge. Insurance Brokers Melbourne can arrange and place Machinery Breakdown cover to indemnify the lodge for these losses.

Alpine Personal Accident for Voluntary Workers Insurance
Ski Lodges that employ staff must arrange Workers compensation insurance with a suitable insurer. With some lodges, Club Members volunteer to perform various duties without pay to help in the running of the lodge. Voluntary Workers are not covered by Workers Compensation. For these workers, it is recommended that lodges arrange Personal Accident Insurance so that any person injured whilst performing voluntary duties can be compensated if he or she is unable to return to their usual occupation. Injuries can last for weeks or months and can seriously affect a member’s personal income. The level of compensation available will depend on the ‘benefits’ chosen and can range from $100 to $1,000 per week or in the event of death or permanent disability, Death and Capital Benefits of between $10,000 and $100,000.
